Aniis, in Arabic literally means “those who bring peace and tranquillity to the heart”. Its broader meaning, however, is all-encompassing equating with graciousness, hospitality and showing favour. The idea of sheltering visitors within your own home is synonymous with this in Saudi Arabia. ARD set out to not literally repeat villages, but to reinterpret their intrinsic values in a contemporary Saudi Arabian manner. Learning from the wonderful sense of community imbued in traditional Aseer, Najran, Hejaz, Jazan, Farsan, and the Rifai architecture, ARD proposes that the site be developed into an elegant and contemporary private estate to take advantage of the wonderful setting, wide beach frontage, coral seas, the existing mountain, and the “shade” of trees and structures which will be planned in the whole of the estate. ARD recognize that a gracious image is as important as the timelessness of the concept. In this sense, providing hospitality, comfort, and a sense of home away from home will ensure the uniqueness of the resort forever; for hospitality is never out of fashion.
